Erica globiceps subsp. consors flowers

The small flowers of Erica globiceps cluster at stem tips. Flower colour, usually pink to deep pink, may also be very pale pink. The three or four sepals are heavily fringed with hairs. The corollas are tubular (likely to be subsp. consors and the one in picture) to funnel-shaped (likely to be subsp. globiceps), neither with much flare in the petal lobes.

Both the pale pink, thin style and the four stamens, narrow and brown in the photo, are well exserted (protruding). Flowering happens from late winter to early summer.

The former "Minor Genera" of Erica species that include this plant have indehiscent fruits (Bean and Johns, 2005; iSpot; www.biodiversityexplorer.org).
