Euphorbia restricta blooming in winter

The yellow cyathia of Euphorbia restricta abound at stem tops on this plant. They occur on the near-continuous horny ridges formed by the spine shields. Inflorescences develop as solitary, nearly stalkless cyathia or in cymes of three.

Each cyathium or false flower is about 6 mm in diameter. Its nectar glands are yellow and oblong. The fruit that follows is lobed and stalkless. It contains smooth seeds that are nearly spherical.
