Euphorbia restricta blooming in winter

The yellow cyathia of Euphorbia restricta abound at stem tops on this plant. They occur on the continuous ridges formed by the spine shields. Inflorescences develop as solitary, nearly stalkless cyathia or in cymes of three.

Each cyathium or false flower is about 6 mm in diameter. Its nectar glands are yellow and oblong. The fruit that follows is lobed and stalkless. It contains smooth seeds that are nearly spherical.
