Euryops virgineus leafy stems

The small leaves of Euryops virgineus are densely arranged near the stem tips, notably more sparsely lower down on the pale stems. The slender, erect stems branch repeatedly, giving the shrub a rounded, leafy appearance. The leaves are irregularly alternate to scattered on the stems.

The leaf base tapers right to the stem, not quite disappearing from the cream coloured midrib, rendering the leaf sessile. Narrow leaf lobes (or long teeth) point forward in a spreading way and may even curve. The central lobe at the tip of the ovate leaf is slightly larger than the lateral ones (Manning, 2007; Moriarty, 1997).
