    The lower surfaces of Ficus abutilifolia leaves, as seen in the photo have a pale green colour. They give the impression of a soft texture, suggesting a velvety surface as is sometimes present.

    The leaf veins are prominent here and not quite as pale as seen from above.

    These leaf positions on the stem are best described as spiralling, not alternate in the usual sense. Leaf stalks are as pale yellow-green as the veins, nearly like the visible leaf surfaces (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Schmidt, et al, 2002; Pooley, 1993).
