Kalanchoe rotundifolia is a delicate little plant, sometimes forming large stands that bring eye-catching splashes of deep yellow, orange and red colour in autumn. Close inspection reveals attractive urn-shaped flowers. The four petal lobes, elliptic in shape, have acutely pointed tips. The pink to orange red in picture comes from the buds and spent flowers; the upper petal lobe surfaces contributing yellow and some orange.
The plants grow in scrub and grassy or rocky places in full sun, as well as in woodland where the shade does not hamper flowering (Manning, 2009).
