The dark, red-purple corolla tubes of this Lapeirousia pyramidalis subsp. regalis plant turn bluish purple and slightly curved at the top when the flowers open. There is some white on the globular buds; white marginal stripes on the lower lip tepals of open flowers.

The open flowers here may still open further, but at this stage all tepal tips curve in. Seven flowers are borne fairly close together on the small plant.

Some bract margins lower down are entire, others finely toothed, while red marginal colouring is present on some parts (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
