Different Lapeirousia fabricii floral stages are represented in the same inflorescence of this industrious small plant. The open flowers don’t spread as widely as they can, may not have heard the dentist’s instruction yet. The closed bud of flower length has lost the yellow that still shows on the slightly shorter bud, as well as on the beginner down next to its bracts.

The pointed, red-rimmed and in-folding bracts initially hold the nascent corollas, later only the bases of their tubes (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
