Ledebouria socialis, commonly known as the silver squill or the silver African hyacinth, is a small, bulbous perennial reaching about 7 cm in height and forming dense colonies. In picture three simple racemes grow from the plant in cultivation.

The species distribution is coastal in the Eastern Cape, from Hankey to East London.

The habitat is evergreen woodland, thicket and scrub forest of river valleys. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
