Lotononis pumila

Lotononis pumila is a small, somewhat shrub-like annual that creeps on the ground, reaching 5 cm in height.

The species distribution is in the Western Cape from around Riversdale and the Little Karoo to the Eastern Cape as far as Uitenhage. The photo was taken on the Minwater farm near Oudtshoorn.

The habitat is karoid, semi-arid scrub slopes and flats. The plants occur in both summer and winter rainfall areas. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century.
