Lotononis pumila leaves

The opposite leaves of Lotononis pumila soon grow more new leaves or branches from their axils.

There are dark spots on the stems and petioles that may be lenticels or tiny hairs. Lenticels would be useful for releasing gases in dealing with the temperature so close to the stones in bright sunshine. Hairs might also contribute.

Leaf age is associated with colour variation, the older the darker green.

The leaves resemble clover leaves (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist).
