Lotononis galpinii, previously known scientifically as Buchenroedera sparsiflora, is a prostrate or erect shrublet of the Fabaceae family that may reach 60 cm in height. It usually has a rounded growth form, sometimes mat-forming.
The species distribution is in KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State and the Eastern Cape, also in Lesotho, particularly in the Drakensberg and Maluti Mountains.
Its habitat is rocky slopes and near watercourses at high altitude. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Manning, 2009; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
