Jamesbrittenia ramosissima is a plant found in the Richtersveld, a remote area of the Northern Cape and Namibia, near the Gariep River.
This profusion of white flowers covering the strongly branched shrub, is not emulated by many species in the barren, harsh habitat of this region. The place where the photo was taken is not called Helskloof (hells ravine) for nothing. Summer temperatures reach levels that challenge animal and plant in the extreme.
And there is something ominous about the Afrikaans common name of stinkbos (stink bush).
