The Linzia glabra floral stages are usually concurrent: Buds, flowers and fruit are present together, seen throughout summer and autumn.

Blooming is a lavish affair in this species. This caused Kirstenbosch staff to introduce the plant that hails from the warmer, far northeast of the country and establishing it as a garden prospect, now a garden subject in the Cape.

While no buds are present in the photo, there are many involucres around small groups of disc florets and fruits in picture to show their appearance. The disc floret lobes are blue-purple in contrasting shades. The bristle-brushes of the fruits start off cylindrical, spreading before dispersing.

The dark green, oblong leaves with round tips and whitish midribs are visible in the background (iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
