Helichrysum dasyanthum

The flowerheads of Helichrysum dasyanthum grow in broad, flat-topped clusters at stem tips. Each flowerhead has a daisy shape, composed of tiny, tightly packed disc florets enveloped in a bell-shaped structure by straw-coloured bracts.

In the flowerheads shown here, the buds have not yet opened. The plant was seen in the Harold Porter National Botanical Garden in September. When these flowers open fully, the compactly clustered yellow disc florets collectively make quite an impression on their long stalks.

Flowers appear in spring and early summer (Manning, 2007).
