The developing Albuca grandis inflorescence has its buds pointing up behind the protective bracts that initially serve to keep them in position. The lowermost flower is starting to nod, pushing its withering bract aside, while its pedicel has started to elongate.

The green keel of each outer tepal has pale yellow margins during the bud stage. This green part has withdrawn to the base of the tepal’s outer surface on the open flowers.

The next in line buds in the raceme stop angling up once they gain weight and size but before opening (Manning and Goldblatt, 2009: Albuca crispa and A. grandis. Bothalia 39(2), 153-163; iNaturalist).
