Albuca canadensis buds start off short-stalked when their bracts still cover them, the pointed bract tips protruding above the buds at the raceme top. Elongation of the pedicels allow developed buds to face outwards before the characteristic half-opening and indifferent nodding of the flowers.
The outer three stamens are sterile. When the seeds grow in the well-wrapped ovaries of the oldest flowers down below, the pedicels again turn them up into erect positions.
The plant in picture appears healthy but sacrifices juice from its leaf-tip; not a maintenance priority at bloomtime (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning,2009; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
