Arctotis fastuosa involucre

The roundly cup-shaped involucre of an old Arctotis fastuosa flowerhead shows its rows of hairy and hairless bracts as it envelops the fruiting that goes on inside.

The inner rows are membranous to papery with rounded tips, hairless. The outer ones are narrow with pointed tips curving back, densely hairy. There are about five uneven rows of bracts (Manning, 2009).
