In shade the Agathosma ovata ‘Kluitjieskraal’ petals manage some streaky pink-purple colouring, hardly visible in the bright sunlight photo.

The staminodes in the flower centre, short leafy or petal-like filaments that don’t have anthers, fold in modestly over the green ovary that is exposed in the sunlight photo also shown in this Album. It may be a case of wearing your jumper or jersey when Mum feels cold.

Pale yellowish glands are visible, spaced along the margins of the leaves in picture. These glands deliver the oils and maybe other juices that make buchu famous in the medicinal world for untold complaints, almost irrespective of the malaise concerned (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015).
