Acmadenia sheilae

The flowers of Acmadenia sheilae appear solitary at stem tips. Five-pointed star-shaped flowers are formed by the obovate petals that taper to pointed tips. Flower colour is pink or pale pink with a narrow, dark pink central line from the petal base to about half its length. Flowers are about 2 cm in diameter. The flower styles are much shorter than the petals. Each stamen has a gland at its tip. Flowering happens from autumn to spring. A. sheilae fruits have five chambers.

The flowers resemble A. tetragona that is endemic to the Langeberg and Outeniqua Mountains. But that species has leaves that are folded along their midribs (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
