Some growth phases of Acmadenia mundiana plants may involve fast or strong stem elongation, causing leaves to be spread widely apart as in the photo.
The dark green blades bulge beside their midribs, the stalks short. The stems are purple-red to brownish.
Small clusters of flowers grow at the stem-tips. The furled buds are deep pink-purple on the outside surfaces of the corollas, while the open flowers are close to white. Old petals discolour to pale brown before they disappear (Manning, 2007).
