Acmadenia mundiana leaves and flower

Acmadenia mundiana, commonly known as De Hoop buchu, has flowers with tapering and some attenuation in the bases of their spoon-shaped petals. The dark marking or nectar guide on each petal base narrows to a pink line up the centre of the petal, disappearing when it reaches the broadest part. The petals spread to a corolla diameter of 1,5 cm. The ovary in the flower centre is enveloped by a fleshy disc.

The leaves are densely hairy, showing white along the margins. Leaf margins are rolled under, their tips acutely pointed and their midribs sunken on the upper surfaces. Leaf dimensions are 11 mm long by 4 mm wide (Manning, 2007; www.plantzafrica.com).
