The buds in the upper part of this Aloe knersvlakensis raceme are brick-red and angular. They still aim upwards on similarly coloured pedicels.
Lower down the pedicels have become dull yellow. Most of them have lost the ovaries from their curved tips, so no fruit or seed for them for some reason. Maybe their counterparts higher up will have better luck. Pale, pointed bracts subtend the bases of the failed flower stalks.
The lemon yellow to almost white open perianths have some green at their slightly out-curving segment tips. Some oblong, brown anthers are positioned outside the perianth mouths (www.cabdirect.org).
