Asparagus striatus "leaves"

The cladodes or false leaves of Asparagus striatus grow alternate on stems that sometimes zigzag, or they appear paired at stem-tips. The “leaves” are straight, narrow, flattened and sharply pointed.

There are no spines on this plant, the yellow, brown and white leaf-tips performing such functions adequately. The smooth stems and leaves are pale grey-green to dark green (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; iNaturalist).
