    The leaves of Adromischus hemisphaericus may be lightly speckled with maroon, although not always. In the case of this specimen found at Kirstenbosch, there are hardly any such markings.

    The flowers grow on erect stems that may become 30 cm tall. They have pink, fused petal lobes and green flower tubes on a small flower spike. Flowering happens from October to March

    The distribution of A. hemisphaericus in the Western Cape is from the Cape Peninsula to Ceres and Caledon. The habitat is rocky slopes, dry in summer (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk).
