Scattered maroon spots on grey disc succulent leaves constitute the main attraction of an Adromischus maculatus plant. It was thought to be A. sphenophyllus at first, but the leaf shape of that species is more angular, the spots darker, if they occur.
A. maculatus grows to 35 cm including the flower stalk. The flowers are small, star-shaped and white, occasionally tinged pale pink. Blooming happens in summer.
Succulent gardeners love Adromischus plants, even if their flowers are tiny and short-lived. They need little watering, do better in semi-shade and may be grown from leaf or stem cuttings, as well as from seed (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010).
