Curio articulatus young leaves

These Curio articulatus leaves (still) have regular, entire margins. Angular lobing in a variety of leaf shapes are, however, typical of mature leaves of these plants.

Two pale lateral veins curve outwards from the leaf base beside the midrib. The pale green to glaucus leaves are soft and fleshy. Leaf petioles are large and sturdy. Leaves are shed by the plant in dry seasons, surviving by means of their stem storage resources. C. articulatus leaves become about 5 cm long and 1,5 cm wide (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010).
