Cyphostemma hardyi fruit

Many shiny green fruits of Cyphostemma hardyi hang from fleshy red stalks over the leaves in a horizontal system of hairy branches from big to small. The fruits are ovoid to globose, becoming bright red as they ripen. Sparsely scattered, stalked glands on the fruit surfaces appear like stubble.

The flowers are numerous, grown in flat-topped cymes from leaf axils. The buds are cylindrical and constricted in the centre. The four-petalled flowers are small, yellow-green and tinged maroon. They appear around the second half of summer to early autumn (Smith, et al, 2017; Hardy and Fabian, 1992; Germishuizen and Fabian 1982).
