The alternate leaves of Cyphostemma hardyi may be simple, three-foliolate to five-foliolate, growing large and fleshy on longish, sturdy stalks. The blades are grey-green, greyer on the lower surfaces in picture, finely hairy with some visible lateral veins. The blade halves fold in along the midribs and curve down slightly to the tips. The margins are angularly toothed, the teeth irregular in shape and size (Smith, et al, 2017; Hardy and Fabian, 1992; Germishuizen and Fabian 1982).
