This Calobota cytisoides stem-tip is furnished with three trifoliolate leaves angling up and facing each other. This suggests that the leaves will be whorled on the stems, which is not the case. Fabaceae leaves are usually alternate, as is the case with the Calobota genus and C. cytisoides.

Petioles have creamy joints at both ends (and no petiolules on the leaflets). The petioles are channelled on their inner, upper surfaces.

The narrow leaflet blades fold in along their midribs, bending back in picture almost imperceptibly at their tips. Blade hairiness is faint and irregular enough here to be called a bloom. The leaflet midribs are prominent on the lower surfaces (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist; Wikipedia).
