Most of the Cephalophyllum loreum leaves in picture are dead-erect, only the slightest curvature detectable in some. A few deviate at rebellious angles. This is one of the Cephalophyllum species in which the leaves tend to vary in length.

The branches at ground level are long enough for the leaves to form spaced groupings, like people conversing at a cocktail party.

The flattish fruit capsule on the ground is grey and closed but for a small gap in its centre where the narrow valve tips no longer quite meet. It is in delivery mode, the flower at the other end only a promise (Smith, et al, 1998; iNaturalist).
