In habitat Cyrtanthus epiphyticus does not always perch in trees or on rocks, also growing among a multitude of grassy neighbours. Here it appears to thrive with roots in the ground like the rest of them.

The inviting misty slopes where these perennials reappear annually and bloom in colours that may be the envy of grasses, can also be bitingly cold. Even covered in snow. At other times, thunder roars over this land, following flashes of lightning. Pounding rain and howling wind reinforce the message for plants and animals to shelter, lie low and wait. The opportunity will come. For many.

Sharing space with species unlike oneself is an art, a life skill taking many forms. And so is sharing time. The fullness of time is real (Duncan, et al, 2016; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
