Combretum erythrophyllum by the Magalies River

Combretum erythrophyllum (SA Tree List No. 536), the river bushwillow, is a tree of riverine forests and sometimes open woodland. It may be represented by dense stands in favourable conditions near water. The tree may be single- or multi-stemmed, branching low down and sometimes developing tortuous shapes.

The wood is yellow, tough and easily worked in carpentry; often used as a general purpose timber (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Schmidt, et al, 2002).
