Crassula nudicaulis var. platyphylla opposite clusters

The opposite flower clusters in the decussate inflorescence of Crassula nudicaulis var. platyphylla grow on sturdy peduncles that are short and straight. These dull red, faintly hairy peduncles grow from leaf axils.

The thickly fleshy stem leaves, here bracts are oblong with nearly flat to channelled upper surfaces and convex lower ones. They jointly clutch the stem, more or less fused at the base. Their surfaces are faintly white-haired.

This plant was seen in the Biedouw Valley in September (Smith, et al, 2017; Frandsen, 2017; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
