Crassula tomentosa var. tomentosa dead flowers

Dry, dead Crassula tomentosa var. tomentosa flowers are dark and pointy, as much of the petal structure remains in position for some time. The sharply pointed brown bits in picture were the white or yellow petals, still erect or straight as they were during bloomtime. The leaves that earlier subtended the flower clusters are now gone; the opposite short-stalked clusters of dead flowers are clearly spaced.

After flowering the hard-working scape dies, its leaf rosette at the base as well. Other branches may develop at the base, rendering the plant perennial or at least biennial (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
