Crassula tecta , sometimes called akkedisvel (lizard skin) in Afrikaans, is a low-growing, grey or grey-green leaf succulent. The branched leafy clusters are tufted, usually no taller than 5 cm. When there is a flower stalk present, double that height is reached.

The species occurs in the Western Cape from Montagu to Steytlerville and southwards through Baviaanskloof to the Langkloof in the Eastern Cape.

The plant grows in shallow, gravelly soils in varied vegetation types. It is reasonably abundant in the veld, not considered threatened early in the twenty first century (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Moriarty, 1997; www.plantzafrica.com; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
