    The thick-leaved, young Crassula congesta subsp. laticephala plants grow exposed in sandy soil among stones. This photo was taken southwest of Oudtshoorn.

    At this stage the leaves are short in the small, chunky rosettes, pointing up and deep-keeled. Older plants have longer leaves that curve down.

    The blades are spotted and uneven from faint mottling. Leaf colour varies from pink to green, yellow green or blue green (Frandsen, 2017; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist).
