Othonna coronopifolia toothed leaves

Othonna coronopifolia leaves are simple and alternate, ascending on very short petioles from short side-branchlets. They are lanceolate in shape, pale green in colour, thinly succulent, smooth and leathery in texture.

The leaf margins are entire or few-toothed, the pointed teeth spaced irregularly and are occasionally markedly bigger than here. There are mucros protruding from several leaf-tips in picture. Leaf veins are not often visible, the lower parts of midribs sometimes prominent.

Leaves drop off from old stems, while clusters of new leaves sometimes grow from the axils of old ones. The older, big stems are leafless, covered in brown and later grey bark (Manning 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; JSTOR).
