    These Othonna lobata flowerheads are or were short on ray florets. They curve down on the open flowerhead, while shrivelled up and tightly curled on the recently withered ones.

    The margins of the still live rays are erratic, deviating from smooth. Pappus bristles have not yet appeared on the old flowerheads. A tiny leafy bract is present at only one of the branching points of the flower stalks in picture (Smith, et al, 2017).
