Ochna natalitia leaves

The leaves of Ochna natalitia are oblong to elliptic, tapering to rounded at the leaf base and tip. When growing to tree size in forests, the leaves are larger and taper more than those of the rocky outcrop shrub form. Leaf dimensions are from 3 cm by 1 cm to 13 cm by 4 cm.

Young leaves of the showy ochna are coppery red, later green and hairless. Leaf surfaces are leathery, the lateral veins numerous. The veins are aligned closely together and yellowish as is the prominent midrib. Leaf margins are finely serrated (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997).
