Ochna natalitia stems

The branched stems of Ochna natalitia are grey-brown with patches of pale grey. They are initially smooth, later rough and finely fissuring. Young branchlets may be dark brown or grey with numerous lenticels spread across their surfaces. Galls are often seen on the stems.

A suffrutex form of this plant is found in northern KwaZulu-Natal around the Barberton area (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997; Schmidt, et al, 2002).
