The simple leaves of the deciduous Ochna holstii are alternate, borne in horizontal planes on petioles varying between 1 cm and 3,5 cm in length.
Leaf shape is elliptic to obovate. The leaf tip tapers to a drip tip or is occasionally notched; the leaf base tapers. Leaf margins are sparsely toothed near the base, the teeth small and more closely together further up. Leaves become up to 12 cm long and 4 cm wide.
Leaf texture is thin and smooth, hairless. Leaf colour is pale green. The leaves or their margins are sometimes wavy. The cream midrib is conspicuous, the rest of the venation not. The spaced lateral veins are only slightly angled forward, curving in near the margins (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Schmidt, et al, 2002).
