Inside the flat base of the cup of an Orbea conjuncta flower there is a raised, fleshy crimson to pinkish ring, the annulus, before the cream side-walls of the cup turn up, similarly coloured on the outside of the corolla.
The central base of the corolla is slightly sunken in the area where the five-pointed outer corona raises its five tapering lobes. These lobes are cream near the base, crimson red at their slightly narrowed, outwardly ascending tips (www.llifle.com).
