Orbea cooperi

Orbea cooperi, previously known as Stultitia cooperi and earlier Stapelia cooperi is one of the carrion flowers. It is a leafless stem succulent forming clumps or mats by branching at the base and reaching heights of up to 5 cm.

The stems are erect or ascending, bearing long, acutely pointed, conical teeth. Each tooth usually has a couple of tiny secondary teeth in its middle section, pointing sideways. Stem thickness is up to 1 cm excluding the teeth.

The stem surfaces are hairless and smooth, grey-green to dull green with chocolate-brown colouring or dark green blotches (White and Sloane, 1937; www.llifle.com).
