Oedera capensis is a sprawling shrublet that grows to 30 cm in height. The leaves are narrowly lanceolate, spreading or recurving. The leaf margins have gland-tipped hairs that are sometimes silky.
The species grows along the southern coast of the Western Cape and slightly into the Eastern Cape along the coast. The habitat is stony flats and slopes that are often arid in summer. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Manning, 2007; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
