Oxalis obtusa in Namaqualand

Oxalis obtusa proves here that a rock crevice may yield enough resources for staying alive and producing viable flowers. More fortunate specimens find themselves typically on sloped ground in clay soil where some dampness occurs.

The flower colour of Oxalis obtusa may also be pale pink as in this photo taken in Namaqualand in September. Still, the yellow centre and the dark venation into the flower throat are evident, as in the other photos shown in this Album.

The plant reaches a height of about 10 cm (Manning, 2009; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
