Pelargonium abrotanifolium flowers

The upper pair of petals of the Pelargonium abrotanifolium flower are here narrowly oblong, slightly oblique with angular tips and red, purple or red-purple markings in their lower parts. They cohere near the base, veer apart at their tips.

The lower three petals are narrowly oblong and unmarked, slightly smaller than the upper ones and diverging forward below the flower centre. In picture the central one is round-tipped, the laterals angularly oblique.

Flower colours range from white to pink and mauve. Flower diameter is about 2 cm.

The dorsal sepal is erect, touching the upper petals. The other four sepals curve down strongly.

There are seven fertile stamens, some differing in length. Red-purple styles, five-branched at their tips, are visible in the flower centres in picture (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
