The flowers of Pelargonium gibbosum normally appear from November to April. The leaves that are winter growing have often dried out by flowering time.

This flower was photographed in November in the high rainfall part of the distribution area, the Cape Peninsula, at the start of the normal blooming season. So there are both flowers and leaves to be seen on this plant

But the west coast habitat of the plant has large diversity in temperature and rainfall. Variation in plant behaviour must therefore be expected as well (Manning, 2007).
