Pelargonium peltatum, the ivy-leaved pelargonium or in Afrikaans kolsuring (spot sorrel) is a semi-succulent, perennial climber found in coastal and succulent scrub of the Western and Eastern Cape.

The generic name, Pelargonium, is derived from the Greek word pelargos meaning stork. Pelargonium fruits generally resemble the beak of a stork. The adjective or specific name, peltatum, is derived from the Latin word pelta meaning shield, referring to the petiole being attached to the centre of the blade, as the handle of a shield (www.plantzafrica.com).
