Pelargonium patulum upper petals darkly marked

Three pink Pelargonium patulum flowers make up this cluster. The solid, dark purple patches on the upper petals are almost black in their centres. White markings are visible just below these, as well as some narrow lateral lines, purplish in colour, completing the upper petal embellishments. The flowers are borne on pedicels shorter than the flower tubes.

The plant may flower during most of the year, less in late autumn and winter. This photo was taken in October (Manning, 2007; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; iSpot; JSTOR).
