    The characteristic lacy lobes of the alternate Pelargonium ionidiflorum leaves are shown in this photo. The stout petiole continues into a sturdy midrib, supporting short and chunky lateral leaf sections as well as a terminal one. Some of the sections are divided further, either flat or in-curving and variably toothed.

    Leaf colour in picture is glaucous on older leaves with red on some margins, while younger leaves are yellowish green as are some midribs. Sparse pale hairs are visible on the greenish yellow to red stalks (www.plantzafrica.com).
